Well, the honeymoon for Elon Musk and conservatives just ended.
On Friday, it was announced that Tesla would cover the costs for employees that need to travel to another state to get an abortion.
As part of the Safety Net program, Tesla’s health insurance program will cover “travel and lodging support for those who may need to seek healthcare services that are unavailable in their home state.”
Pay the Price
Musk, who is NOT a conservative, but identifies as a true moderate, was on a bit of a honeymoon with conservatives.
He has been hammering free speech to the point of making a move to buy Twitter due to outrage over the censorship on the platform.
Conservatives have embraced him as one of their own, but I am pretty sure that will end with this announcement.
The one truly hot potato with conservatives is the protection of the unborn.
This move was telegraphed, however, as Musk sent out a tweet last September when Texas started to push abortion restrictions…
In general, I believe government should rarely impose its will upon the people, and, when doing so, should aspire to maximize their cumulative happiness. That said, I would prefer to stay out of politics.

Now, I generally agree with less government, but this is a case where we have children that cannot speak for themselves.
I have never believed that abortion will be outright outlawed as long as it has federal protections in Roe v. Wade.
I also believed that with restrictions, most conservatives would have let this die down, but the push for Democrats to have late-term abortions has the right riled up again.
Now it is an all-out war to turn complete control over to the states, where conservatives can protect the unborn in their home states.
Musk, who just moved Tesla to Texas, has now pushed himself into the middle of this conversation.
The one thing I want to see is what the rancher will do that offered Tusk free land to set up the HQ of Twitter.
My guess is that the offer has just been pulled off the table.
