Three USS George Washington Sailors Found Dead Within One Week

Tragedy has stuck on the USS George Washington.

Over the course of a single week, three sailors have been found dead.

The first two sailors were found on April 9 and 10.

A third sailor was discovered dead on April 15.

What Is Going On?

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Robert Myers reported that Retail Services Specialist 3rd Class Mikail Sharp was the first body found on April 9.

A day later, in what is being called a separate incident, Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Natasha Huffman was found dead.

Both of the sailors were off base when their bodies were discovered.

Last Friday, the third sailor was discovered, but the ID has not yet been released.

That sailor was found on the ship while it was in Newport News, VA.

The body was transported to a nearby hospital, where the sailor was pronounced dead.

According to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, the deaths are not related.

He stated, “That’s what they believe right now and I think we need to give them time to properly investigate these deaths.”

The Navy added, “The Navy is cooperating with NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) and local authorities where these incidents have occurred to determine the facts.”
