Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) has decided to step down after his term is completed.
His seat will be one of the most-watched elections in 2022, as it will play a large role in Republicans getting a majority in the Senate again.
On his way out the door, Toomey did not hide that he wants to see no parts of Trump in 2024.
No More Trump
Toomey and Trump never meshed, and Toomey is among those that put much of the blame for January 6 in Trump’s lap.
To that point, Toomey is encouraging voters to stay away from Trump if he decides to run for office again in 2024.
Toomey stated, “Yeah, after what happened post-2020 election.
“I think the president’s behavior was completely unacceptable.
“So, I don’t think he should be the nominee to lead the party in 2024.”
“There’s no one obvious candidate, but there are many, many people who could do a fantastic job.”
It will be very interesting to see what Toomey does regarding the Senate election as well as the presidential election even if Trump does not Run.
Trump has already endorsed Sean Parnell to replace Toomey.
Additionally, if Trump does not run, the leading candidate to get the nod would be Ron DeSantis, who would also have Trump’s support.
If that is the case, will Toomey throw his support behind Parnell and/or DeSantis knowing he is backing a Trump candidate?
It is going to make for an exciting election season, that is for sure.
