America’s White House Deputy National Security Adviser Daleep Singh recently appeared on a broadcast of Bloomberg’s “Surveillance.”
While there, he said a few things about Russia that has put a lot of people on high alert.
Russia is turning into a “junior partner” with China.
Obviously, this could be very bad news.
Imagine, an entity as evil and powerful as the Chinese government teaming up with something as tenacious and prideful as the Russian government?
That might mean bad things for the rest of the world.
If China isn’t going to be teaming up with Russia, then Singh is demanding that now is the time to show it:
“Well, look, China has a choice to make. If it’s serious about upholding the principles that it espouses, sovereignty and territorial integrity, this is the moment to show it. Europe is watching. The U.S. is watching. The world is watching. Are they serious about these principles? And do they care about the spillovers, the global spillovers from Putin’s war in energy markets and food? They already have a homegrown supply shock from the zero-COVID policy. Do they want to add to that shock? So, we’re watching very closely. We have options in case China actively attempts to undermine our sanctions or backfill those measures.”
If China cares about the global spillover from this war, they will do what’s right.
If they don’t, we know what they’re up to.
