Earlier this week, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) likened the United States to the Taliban and Hamas.
On Thursday, after taking considerable heat from both sides of the aisle, Omar tried to walk her comments back just a bit.
However, that only created bigger problems, as Democrat leadership blasted her and is clearly not happy with her extremism.
Let the Civil War Begin
Omar, after getting pushback, stated, “To be clear: the conversation was about accountability for specific incidents regarding those ICC (International Criminal Court) cases, not a moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the U.S. and Israel.
“I was in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems.”
But she was, and we all know it. If there would not have been pushback within her own party, we all know those words would never have come.
That seems to be something leadership in her own party realized as well, with House Speaker Pelosi and several other high-ranking leadership Democrats releasing a statement on her comments.
It read, “Drawing false equivalencies between democracies like the U.S. and Israel and groups that engage in terrorism like Hamas and the Taliban foments prejudice and undermines progress toward a future of peace and security for all.
“We welcome the clarification by Congresswoman Omar that there is no moral equivalency between the U.S. and Israel and Hamas and the Taliban.”
The rebuke by leadership did not sit well with other Squad members, which just cements the fact that Omar’s words were nothing more than lip service.
Rep. Tlaib (R-MI), as she is want to do, took yet another extreme position on this.
After leadership rebuked Omar, Tlaib blasted leadership on Twitter…
Freedom of speech doesn't exist for Muslim women in Congress. The benefit of the doubt doesn't exist for Muslim women in Congress. House Democratic leadership should be ashamed of its relentless, exclusive tone policing of Congresswomen of color.

So, yet again, because Omar is getting called out for clearly wrong and misleading comments, it becomes a racial issue.
Tlaib more or less called Democrat leadership a bunch of racists, so let’s see how Pelosi and company respond to having that hat put on their head, as they have done to Republicans on far too many occasions.
