Operation Lone Star (OLS) has a casualty.
Texas Military Department (TMD) Maj. Gen. Tracy Norris has been replaced.
Maj. Gen. Thomas Suelzer is the new Texas adjutant general after critics called for the dismissal of Norris.
Operation Lone Star
OLS was put in place by Governor Abbott to help address the problem at the border that Joe Biden doesn’t really seem to care about.
However, since the operation has been in place, the surge has continued, and Guard members have been complaining they were nothing but political pawns to make Abbott look better to voters.
As the head of the TMD, Norris was in charge of the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard.
Even though Norris was sent packing, Abbott did allow her to go out gracefully, even though her critics have largely blamed her for the failures of OLS to this point.
Abbott stated, “General Norris faithfully served the Texas Military Department with dignity, as Adjutant General beginning in January 2019, as Assistant Adjutant General in 2016, and over her decades of service.”
He then introduced Suelzer as the new boss, stating, “Major General Suelzer brings a wealth of military experience to this new role, and I am confident that he will uphold the integrity of the Texas Military Department and exemplify servant leadership throughout every aspect of this position.”
Retired Lt. Col. Allen West, who was a primary opponent of Abbott’s in the recent election, was among those that had called out Norris for her failures.
Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke used this as an opportunity to slam Abbott.
He stated, “You can switch Generals, but we know where the buck stops.
“Abbott took 10,000 Guard members from their jobs and families, treated them with incredible disrespect. Pay delayed. Tuition benefits cut in half.
“Used as political pawns in his campaign. Time to bring them back home.”
We know why he wants that… so he can open up the borders to illegal immigrants and help Joe Biden carry out his open borders plan.
Hopefully, Suelzer can get the problems fixed and have his troops working in conjunction with the Border Patrol to fix this ongoing surge of illegal crossings at our southern border.
