Trump-backed Dr. Oz Down by 9 Points in PA

When Mehmet Oz won the PA Senate primary race, it was considered a big win for Trump and his supporters.

I was not so quick to rejoice, however, as I believe Oz was a bad endorsement and a weak candidate due to his previous liberal stances.

According to early polling, that is how a lot of voters are seeing him, as he is trailing Lt. Gov. John Fetterman by nine points in early polling.

Still Time

We still have a full five months before the election, so there is still time, but I am not very hopeful considering Fetterman’s situation.

Fetterman spent the last few days of the primary election cycle in the hospital recovering from cardiac issues.

When he has been seen recently, he has looked like a homeless person, appearing in sweatpants and a hoodie, yet he is still the early leader in polling.

He is not just leading, but he is already off to a commanding 9-point lead.

This is a seat Republicans held and will need to hold if they are going to take back the Senate.

If I sound angry and desperate, I am, because I question whether Oz can rally conservatives in the state to take this seat right now.

Oz does not even have the full support of Trump’s base, having been booed when he made a recent appearance at a Trump rally.

Hardcore conservatives are weary, considering his previous stances on key issues such as gun control and abortion.

This is one of the races I would love to be wrong about, but I honestly thought Oz would be much closer because Fetterman is far-left and has been out of circulation for most of the last few weeks.

If Oz expects to win this race, he better start hitting the campaign trail right now and convincing conservatives he will be a true conservative and not just another talking head looking to collect a government paycheck.

This being the first poll, it could very easily be a blip, so we will watch the trends and see how he goes.

If Oz starts going backward, however, Trump needs to get his butt to PA and do some heavy campaigning for this man.

I really don’t care how many primary races his candidates won because this is all about the general election, period.

We simply cannot afford to lose this seat to Democrats.
