Former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has a new book coming out.
In “The Chief’s Chief,” Meadows stated that Trump had tested positive for COVID-19 BEFORE his first debate with Joe Biden.
Trump, who still gets along very well with Meadows, immediately called the account fake news.
Not True
Meadows stated that Trump had tested positive before the event.
Trump, however, was not going to be stopped from going on that debate stage.
Meadows wrote, “Nothing was going to stop [Trump] from going out there.”
He further stated that while Trump had gotten some of his color back, he seemed tired and a bit out of sorts.
Meadows added, “I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks, but I also didn’t want to alarm the public if there was nothing to worry about — which according to the new, much more accurate test, there was not.”

Trump immediately pushed back on the report by Meadows, stating, “The story of me having COVID prior to, or during, the first debate is Fake News.
“In fact, a test revealed that I did not have COVID prior to the debate.”
Three days after the debate. Trump announced that he and Melania both had COVID.
Trump’s case seemed a bit more severe, and he was eventually admitted to Walter Reed for care and was discharged three days later.
So, clearly, someone got their story wrong here.
The shock factor here is that Meadows, who remains a staunch ally of Trump’s, tells a story that he knows is counter to what the public had been told to this point.
He also had to know that Trump would push back on this.
Meadows also had to know that the media would jump all over this, so it benefits him in no way to lie about it.
We will have to keep an eye on this relationship moving forward to see if Trump lets it sit or if he goes after Meadows a bit harder to try to get him to retract the story.
