When Donald Trump was president, every New York politician in office went after him.
From the mayor of New York City to the governor to the attorney general, they all wanted their cut of his scalp.
Now that leadership in the city is changing, Trump has left the door open to return to the Big Apple.
The Return of Trump
New York City has been home to Donald Trump virtually his entire life.
Save some time away from the area when he was in school and during his stint as president, Trump resided in New York his entire life until he moved to Florida.
He only left New York because every single person in power was coming after him.
With fresh blood moving into office, he is now considering moving back, which will be heartbreaking for Governor DeSantis in Florida.
Trump, discussing New York’s politicians, stated, “So, it was shocking what happened to Cuomo.
“He was a strong governor—strong meaning he had pretty good control.
“That was a shocking event.”
“And de Blasio goes down as probably the worst mayor in the history of our country, and that’s saying something because we have some really bad mayors right now.
“But he goes down as the worst mayor in the history of our country.”
He added that what de Blasio “has done to New York is unthinkable.”
Trump continued, “Look at what’s happened to New York.
“When I left, you could see the effects, he was having some effects already with crime and people on the streets and dirt.
“When I left, I considered it a great city. He has destroyed the city.”
Even though Adams is a Democrat, Trump wished him the best, stating, “I hope he’s going to do good.”
When Trump was specifically asked about ever returning to New York, he stated, “I don’t know. Look, I have a good relationship with New York.
“I love New York, it’s a great place.”
Trump still clearly has a soft spot in his heart for New York, as he did when he left the state in 2019, stating at the time, “I cherish New York, and the people of New York, and always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse.”
Businesswise, it would make perfect sense for Trump to return, but it surely depends on how the many legal issues play out in terms of what he will do next.
