Former President Trump made some comments this weekend that have some people scratching their heads.
They can’t figure out if he actually admires the backbone of the progressives in the Democrat Party or he is trying to start more infighting.
In talking about the likes of AOC and her Squad, Trump called them “a true powerhouse.”
Admiration or a Trap?
Today’s Republicans don’t have a backbone, period.
We have seen it time and again, most recently with the bipartisan infrastructure bill that passed through the Senate.
All along, we stated that the moment Biden tied it to a reconciliation bill, negotiations should have been halted.
There was simply no need to hand Biden a bipartisan win when he was negotiating in bad faith.
We can even go back to the days of Paul Ryan as House Speaker, another spineless Republican who refused to fight harder for the Republican agenda even though Republicans had all of Congress.
Democrats, on the other hand, make a stand and throw as much venom as is needed to hold the line.
Like it or not, they are far more effective than Republicans right now.
It is one of the reasons I have been adamant that we need to flush out all the old-timers in office that are loyal to the establishment and get some new blood in office.
Yet, I would bet my last dollar that Senator Grassley (R-IA), at 88 years old and having served in the Senate for three decades, will get re-elected again.
Trump, on that issue, stated, “The progressives gain far more power with the legislation being currently talked about by failing than if it passes.
“It makes them a true powerhouse.
“Next up, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y., running against (Senate Majority Leader) Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., for his US Senate Seat!”
Personally, I think Trump is trying to start more infighting, but he has to be careful about the soundbites he provides for Democrats.
Every word uttered right now is getting banked for ads, so comments like this can do more harm than good over the long haul.
All Republicans need to do right now is sit back and watch because Democrats are doing a great job of tearing apart their own party.
And with Joe Biden at the helm, Republicans will have everything they need to take back Congress in 2022.
