Missouri Attorney General needed only one word to capture the entire spirit of Joe Biden’s new Government Disinformation Board:
“Orwellian.”
This is, of course, a reference to deceased author George Orwell.
Perhaps most famous for his 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, Orwell defined many of the tricks that we are seeing today over 70 years ago.
His creation of terms like “big brother,” “thought police,” “thoughtcrime,” and “newspeak” has led to an entire category of outrageously oppressive government behavior being described as “Orwellian.”
That’s exactly where Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt thinks we are right now:
This “Orwellian” board should “shock the very core of the American belief system, a threat to free speech that will rightly alarm freedom-loving people across America, including those in my home state of Missouri.”
Proving that absolutely none of what Schmitt is saying is an overreaction, Biden’s first order of business was to appoint Nina Jankowicz as his disinformation czar.
Jankowicz has previously said that any criticism of Kamala Harris is a “threat to national security.”
So yeah, “Orwellian” seems to be about the right word.
