Two GOP Operatives Charged for Plot to Funnel Money to 2016 Trump Campaign

Yet another legal issue has popped up that is not necessarily Trump’s, but it could impact another run at the White House for him.

Two GOP strategists have been charged for allegedly plotting to funnel illegal campaign donations to the 2016 Trump campaign.

Jesse Benton and Roy Douglas Wead have reportedly been tied to donations made by Russian nationals to support Trump.

Get Ready for It

The fact the “R” word is even involved in this will be a problem for Trump.

That, however, is not the only problem.

Trump had pardoned Benton before, so this will immediately be thrown in his face if he runs for office again.

Benton is tied to other campaigns as well, having worked for both Senators Ron and Rand Paul.

Benton was also running a PAC for a pro-Trump group.

Wead has previously worked as a special assistant to President George H. W. Bush.

The fact that Trump pardoned Benton and he is now tied to a Russian funneling plot to benefit Trump is all Dems would need to bring back the Russian collusion narrative during a campaign.

We will keep our eyes on this one and see where it goes as well as just how damaging it could be to a presidential run by Trump.
