Two PA State Troopers Killed During Traffic Stop

Early Monday, two Pennsylvania State Troopers were killed.

The officers were attempting to take a man into custody on I-95 when they were struck by a vehicle.

According to reports, a woman was driving along the shoulder at a “high rate of speed” when she struck the two officers and the suspect.

Tragic Deaths

State Police Captain James Kemm commented on their deaths.

He stated, “The impact was so great that it threw the troopers over into the northbound lanes of Interstate 95.

“The vehicle then struck the Jersey barrier, continued a short distance along Interstate 95 and ended up on the right-side shoulder.”

The troopers have been identified as Martin F. Mack III, 33, and Branden T. Sisca, 29.

In addition to the two troopers, the suspect was also killed.

Governor Tom Wolf stated, “This is a heartbreaking tragedy that occurred while these troopers were protecting and serving.

“This mournful incident is a stark reminder of the risks — and sacrifices — our law enforcement officers undertake every day to keep us safe.

“My heart goes out to their families and the communities they lived in and served.”

The woman under investigation had been stopped by the troopers only moments earlier on suspicion of DUI.

They left her because there was a call of a man walking down the highway.

A DUI investigation related to the triple-fatality is now underway.
