Earlier today, U.S. troops in Syrian were reportedly targeted by a drone strike.
Although there were no casualties reported, the attack is being described as “deliberated and coordinated.”
The only response thus far has been that the U.S. will “respond at a time and place of our choosing.”
The Attack
Technically, the strike was a failure in that it did not kill any U.S. troops, but that is not how it is being perceived by military leaders.
U.S. Central Command Capt. Bill Urban stated the al-Tanf Garrison area “was subjected to a deliberate and coordinated attack.”
He continued, “Based on initial reports, the attack utilized both unmanned aerial systems and indirect fire.
“All U.S. personnel have been accounted for, and we are not aware of any injuries to U.S. personnel at this time.”
While no casualties have been reported thus far, Urban stated that U.S. Central Command is continuing to “work with our partners to confirm whether they suffered any casualties as a result of the deliberate attack.”
He concluded, “We continue to maintain all appropriate force protection measures to ensure the safety and security of our forces.
“We maintain the inherent right of self-defense and will respond at a time and place of our choosing.”
We will continue to monitor the situation and update with any retaliatory strikes by the United States.
I am going to guess that based on the last strike this administration carried out, intelligence will be double and triple checked before a strike is ordered.
