Herschel Walker had the support of Donald Trump long before he ever decided to run for the Georgia Senate seat.
Walker, however, is now upset with Trump.
The question is, for what?
I Think You Are Mistaken
Walker has run a bit of an oddball campaign.
He refused to debate his counterparts in the GOP.
His agenda seems to be a bit of a mystery to many.
There have also been considerable questions as to whether or not he is the right person to represent the GOP in Georgia.
Trump loves him, though, and now he is on the ticket.
Yet, during a recent interview, Walker stated that he was upset with Trump because Trump never actually asked him to run.
He stated, “One thing that people don’t know is President Trump never asked me.
“I need to tell him that he never asked.
“I heard it all on television that he’s going to ask Herschel, saying Hershel is going to run.
“President Trump never came out and said ‘Herschel, will you run for that Senate seat?’
“So, I’m mad at him, because he never asked, but he’s taking credit that he asked.”
Walker is mistaken, however.
Maybe Trump never personally called him and asked him, but Trump publicly all but begged Walker to get into this race.
Going back to March 2021, Trump via a Save America PAC statement, wrote, “Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia?
“He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL.
“He is also a GREAT person. Run Herschel, run!”
Trump had also publicly stated many times that he wanted to see Walker run.
I am not sure what Walker is up to here, but he is treading on thin ice in terms of keeping Trump’s support.
There are a LOT of questions about Walker, including his support for CRT and some other very questionable issues.
If he loses Trump’s support, which means Trump’s supporters, he will probably lose this election.
I would wager this will all get straightened out soon enough, that is IF Walker actually still wants to be affiliated with Trump.
Perhaps Walker saw how badly other Trump candidates did in Georgia, so maybe he is purposely causing a rift to cut ties with Trump and go it on his own.
