If Joe Biden was watching Fox News this morning, he was not happy with the news.
On the first broadcast without Chris Wallace hosting “Fox News Sunday” in almost two decades, Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) dropped a bombshell.
Manchin now sounds as though he is done bargaining and the Build Back Better plan is dead in the water.
Sorry, Joe, I’m Out
Senators Manchin and Sinema (D-AZ) have been the roadblock for Biden throughout the course of these negotiations.
Sinema has managed to stay out of the spotlight on this, at least for the most part, but Dems have barely even spoken about her wants and/or needs for the bill.
Manchin has been taking the hit from both Democrats and the media on this.
He has had several sticking points that he refuses to budge on, with the key one being the child tax credit.
Manchin is for the credit, but he also wants a work requirement stipulation added to the bill, something Democrats have refused to add.
The West Virginia Democrat is clearly frustrated, and now he appears ready to walk away from the negotiating table.
Manchin told Fox News’ Bret Baier, “When you have these things coming at you the way they are right now … I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation.”
He further added, “This is a no. I have tried everything I know to do.”
You can see his full interview below…
Now that Manchin is walking away, do you think Democrats will cave to his demand just to get this bill passed?
If they do not, how do you think this will impact Joe Biden and Democrats in 2022?
