The Washington Post dropped an overnight bombshell on the Trump camp.
Reports broke very late on Thursday night regarding the Trump search warrant.
According to the WaPo report, the search at the Trump residence was related to classified documents for nuclear weapons.
Going Nuclear
The Post’s report, if true, is devastating for Trump.
Again, this report came via WaPo through the infamous “people close to the situation.”
In other words, they are unnamed sources leaking out information.
It was unclear if the nuclear documents were related to U.S. weapons or weapons from another country, not that it matters.
If Trump had top-secret classified documents about nuclear weapons in his home, he would be finished.
It is also scary to think what the repercussions will be for the Republican Party not only in the upcoming election cycle, but also in the 2024 presidential election.
On the flip side of this, Trump was on social media while the report was blowing up and demanding that all the information be publicly released.
At 11:40 p.m. EDT, Trump wrote, “Release the documents now!”
Trump also wrote, “Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents even though they have been drawn up by radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last 6 years.”
He added, “My poll numbers are the strongest they have ever been, fundraising by the Republican Party is breaking all records, and midterm elections are fast approaching. This unprecedented political weaponization of law enforcement is inappropriate and highly unethical.
“The world is watching as our Country is being brought to a new low, not only on our border, crime, economy, energy, national security, and so much more, but also with respect to our sacred elections!”
Merrick Garland had already announced that the DOJ filed its petition with the courts to unseal the warrant and the inventory list.
So, we are about to have a showdown.
If the leak that WaPo used for its report turns out to be true and nuclear documents were among the items possessed by Trump, there will surely be criminal filings against Trump.
This will lead to Trump claiming the FBI planted the information to take him out of the election cycle.
At that point, it will be up to the FBI to prove that the documents, were, in fact, on the premise, which can only be proven via bodycam footage of the search.
This is about to get very, very ugly.
