Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA) is pushing some pretty big lies.
On Wednesday, Warren accused the minority of blocking the majority.
In fact, it was dissent among her party that blocked legislation, not to mention Democrats do not even have a majority in the Senate.
More Lies
After the abortion bill failed in the Senate, which is evenly split 50-50, Warren stated, “I believe in democracy, and I don’t believe that the minority should have the ability to block things that the majority want to do. That’s not in the Constitution.”
I could follow that up by saying the word “abortion” is not in the Constitution either, but I digress.
She added, “What we’re talking about right now are the individual rights and liberties of half the population of the United States of America. I think that’s enough to say it’s time to get rid of the filibuster.”
First, Democrats do not have a majority right now, as the Senate is evenly split.
Secondly, the filibuster was put in place to ensure that a simple majority could not run roughshod over the other party and pass legislation without bipartisan support when the Senate was so evenly split.
This ensures everyone is represented fairly.
Thirdly, even her party was not completely on board, as Democrat Senator Joe Manchin voted against the legislation.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) brought up that exact point, stating, “Um, a bipartisan MAJORITY of the Senate just voted down the Dems’ radical abortion bill. 51 is greater than 49, even using Harvard math. You don’t get to call the losing side the majority just because you agree with it.”
Conservative pundit Jason Rantz stated, “I mean… the filibuster didn’t even factor in. It lost 51-49. The majority literally did what it wanted to do: kill the bill.”
Republican California Senate candidate Mark Meuser added, “We live in a constutional [sic] republic, not a democracy. Please read your constitution, something you already should have read since you took an oath to defend it.”
Warren should be hit for spreading disinformation, but that will never happen because she has a “D” next to her name.
