This administration has lied to the American people repeatedly about what is happening in Afghanistan.
It appears we only get the truth when a reporter can knock one of the spokespeople off their game.
That is what happened this week when the administration admitted our presence in Afghanistan is now zero and there is a real possibility of an ISIS-K threat present.
It’s About Time
Since the withdrawal happened, the administration has maintained that the likely number of Americans left behind in Afghanistan is about 100.
That, however, does not seem possible.
Just looking at the random reports that have popped up since the withdrawal, that number appears to have already been passed by.
We know more people further away from Kabul have been cut off, so I will go out on a limb and guess that there are more than likely hundreds of Americans we don’t even know about that remain trapped in that country.
There are also hundreds of American-sponsored journalists that were left behind, many of whom have been covering the Taliban for more than a decade. Which means they all have a target on their head now.
A real concern that is growing is that since we have no assets on the ground, any plane taking off is now a primary target for ISIS, which even White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki could not deny.
On the possible attacks against planes carrying people out of the country, Psaki stated, “There are active, there continue to be active ISIS-K threats, and there’s also a question of where these flights go, where they land.
“We know ISIS-K has a keen interest in attacks against aviation targets and our personnel on the ground in our military bases and these are among the risks that we take into account.”
This is exactly why civilians, journalists, employees, and allies should have all been evacuated before the last military boot left the ground, not after.
We are now literally depending on the Taliban, a terrorist organization, to protect these flights against ISIS-K, another terrorist organization.
Does anyone really believe this has a happy ending for all of that that this administration abandoned?
