Disney had been at war with Governor Ron DeSantis for months now.
When DeSantis signed the parental rights bill, the heat got kicked up several notches.
Disney is all in on children transitioning and teachers being able to teach this nonsense in schools.
Since Disney has decided to get political, lawmakers in Florida are now considering removing the protections that Disney has enjoyed.
After DeSantis signed the parental rights and anti-CRT legislation, the Biden administration unloaded on him.
Two Can Play This Game
Disney has enjoyed protections for years that more or less allow Disney to self-regulate.
Some might call what DeSantis and Florida legislators want to do revenge; others would say it is merely leveling the playing field.
After all, this administration has waged war against the fossil fuel industry.
So, if Disney wants to get political, why not put them on level ground with everyone else.
Disney, on the new legislation, stated, “Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law.
“Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that.
“We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.”
DeSantis addressed Disney’s new venture into the political arena.
He stated, “Look, there’s policy disputes, and that’s fine, but when you’re trying to impose a woke ideology on our state, we view that as a significant threat.”
The White House does not see it that way.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, “So, our view is this — is that the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill is really crystal clear: It’s wrong. That’s our view: It is just wrong.
“We oppose the governor taking action against a company because of their opposition to that bill.
“And we’re just going to leave it there for now; we’re not going to say anymore to that.”
The fact this administration is still calling the legislation “Don’t Say Gay” is rather amazing since there is no language in the legislation that says that.
The fact that the media and fact-checkers have not pointed this out yet shows how blatantly biased in favor of Democrats everything is these days.
