Allen West’s quest to become the next governor of Texas may have just taken a critical blow.
In the midst of a primary race against Republican Governor Greg Abbott, West’s wife was arrested for DWI.
Sadly, that is not the worst of the situation, as their grandchild was also in the car at the time of the stop.
Shock Arrest
The last thing West needed in this race was some type of scandal, yet that is exactly what happened.
West’s wife, Angela, was stopped by a Dallas DWI Squad Friday around 8:45 p.m. for an apparent traffic violation.
The officer suspected Mrs. West of being under the influence, so the officer conducted a field sobriety test.
West was then taken into custody for “Driving While Intoxicated with a Child under 15 Years Old.”
The child, Jackson, was later released to another family member while Mrs. West was processed.

West, for his part, is claiming that his wife only had water and lemonade at the dinner, as well as claiming the breathalyzer test came up negative.
If the Dallas Police did arrest this woman and West’s statements are true, there will be all hell coming down on the Dallas police over this.
The officers better have something significant to back up their “suspicions” or it will look like West was being targeted.
On the other hand, if West is wrong, he ends up with egg on his face big league.
